BC AAA Provincial Championships: 4 New Age Group Qualifiers
Our final championship meet of this cycle brought us to Victoria for the BC Age Group Championships. Overall our small team placed 14th, moving up from 19th last season.
Elvis Lam was the ironman of the weekend, making finals in all his events. He won two silver medals in the 11 & under boys 100 and 200 breast, 4th place in the 50 free and 200 back, 5th place in the 100 free and 6th in the 100 back.
We also saw 4 swimmers reach their age group national standards this past weekend. Hayden Gilmore had an outstanding weekend, qualifying for age group nationals for 14 year olds in three events while also making multiple finals. He won bronze in the 200 breast, 6th in both the 200 and 400 IM, and 8th in the 1500 free for 13 year old boys. Dani Dal Cengio from lane 8 came third in the 14 year old boys 100 breast on route to qualifying for age group nationals for 15 year olds. On the women’s side, Ralie Gasler and Emily Diggle both qualified for age group nationals for 12 and under girls. Ralie qualified in the 800 free and 400 free, while Emily qualified in the 200 fly.

That bring our first cycle to a close with some great swims and great improvements from last season. Next up for the Knights, the WDSC LMR meet on March 7/8.
