Divisionals Recap
36 Surrey Knights swimmers competed in the Fraser and Vancouver Divisional Championship from February 17-19. Hosted at our home Surrey Sport and Leisure pool the Knights brought home over 50 individual medals over the course of the weekend. We want to thank all those parents and volunteers for making the Divisionals event such a great success!
Leanne Chen led the way on the women’s side with 7 medals including first place finished in 200 IM and 50 Fly. Sarina Chen also won two Golds in 200 IM and 100 Fly. Other female medal winners included Charlotte Metza, Raneem Hefeeda, Flora Suh, Clara Suh, Myla Wong and Emma Qu. Rounding out the women’s side Yunha Hwang, Nadia Van Diedmann and Nandika Chopra all managed top 8 finishes in their individual events.
The Knights men’s team did equally as well with 9 different individual medallists. Alan Pham led the way with 5 medals including Gold in 50 Breast and 50 Fly. Allen Wu, Josh Perkins, Jasper Zhang and Martin Viloria also won Gold medals, while Justin Dunder, Matthew Suh, Andy Pham and Anas Hamoudda also took top 3 finishes. Other finalists included Ben Wakelin, Luke Wakelin, Max Bentham, Sam Stewart-Beinder, Christian Edang and Owen Qiu.
Not only did the Knights claim many top finishes but swimmers achieved a combined total of over 40 new Provincial qualifying time standards. These swimmers included Alan Pham, Andy Pham, Sam Stewart-Beinder, Sarina Chen, Myla Wong, Raneem Hefeeda, Emma Qu, Justin Dunder, Allen Wu, Josh Perkins, Jasper Zhang, Matthew Suh, Martin Viloria, Leanne Chen, Owen Qiu and Max Bentham.
