Hey Parents,
We are hosting a Parent Information Session for Competitive Development swimmers' parents.
When: Friday, September 25, 2026 - 5:30-6:30pm
Where: Multipurpose Room 2 - on the Arena side at Surrey Sport and Leisure (SSLC)
What you need to do: Nothing other than show up with your questions
A few notes as to what this meeting is not:
- A forum to discuss club politics or question club policies (Kurt doesn't write them, and can't answer the why, but he does know them and can answer your questions about what/how)
- Time to discuss your child as an individual (let's book a time to talk about this if you need)
The Agenda:
- Intro to the Club (the stuff that is interesting, but not integral)
- So You've Joined Swim Club (this is important, but less interesting)
- Swim Meets & Club Events (the reason)
- Training Groups and Move Ups (make sure you understand this!)
- Role of the Parent (Make sure you take notes, as there will be an exam on this)
- The Difference Between Parenting and Coaching (should be obvious, but sometimes the lines blur)
- How to Reward your Child (and also your Coach)
- Injuries (to the parents, not to the swimmers)
- Some Extras (for your coach... not for your kids)
I am looking forward to seeing all the parents out for this. If this is your first year, this is especially important, and if it's not, you could probably use the refresher.
See you all there!
