Updates for Swimmers
Quick Notes:
- This is a Short Course Heats and Finals Championship swim meet
- There is limited spectator seating. Parents are encouraged to volunteer.
About Warm Ups:
- Warm ups will be blocked
- Note volunteer positions may have an earlier start time then what is listed for the swimmers. Please arrive on time for volunteer shifts.
- Reminder - we strongly recommend that you arrive early to find seating (especially Saturday). We will once again set up at the bleachers closest to the starting end of the pool. Deck chairs will be needed for some as the bleacher space will be limited.
- There will also be a hockey tournament running on the arena side of the facility, so plan extra time for drop off and parking. Overflow parking can be found in the Northern portion of the RONA parking lot.

Team Expectations for Finals and Relays:
- This is a championship meet at our home pool. We encourage swimmers to attend finals even if they are not in them to support the team.
- All relays will be in finals at the end of the session. Relays are subject to change.
- Unless a swimmer noted during the meet sign up process, they are expected to return for finals if they are in the top 10 or on a relay.
- No shows for finals and relays are subject to late scratch penalties ($20) and/or full relay fees ($15) if absence results in a canceled relay in addition to other repercussions.
- Please ensure you are double checking with coaches after your last prelim swim if you think you are not top 10 and not on a relay, and are not returning for finals as there may be changes or information coaches are privy to, such as scratches or relay changes.
400s and 800s
- These events are timed finals (raced once)
- 400FR/400IM - Top 8 in each age group will swim directly in finals. All provincial qualifiers, regardless of place, and remaining swimmers will race in prelims.
- 800FR - All heats will race in prelims.
Other Notes:
- We will be doing activation outside so dress accordingly.
- All swimmers need to be wearing their SKSC t-shirt or sweatshirt while on deck and your SKSC cap while racing.
- Swimmers are required to attend warmups and all of their races, and are allowed to leave when they finish their last race of a session. Double check with your coach if you are unsure.
- Be prepared with extra towels, healthy snacks, water bottles, etc…as days can be long, and staying warm, fueled and hydrated will be important to race your best from day to day.
- Coaches are not responsible for watching swimmers between heats and finals.
- We encourage swimmers to leave electronic devices at home unless needed for communication or music. Be engaged with the meet and your teammates!
For Parents:
- Some positions are still available, particularly Stroke and Turn positions on Friday Prelims and Finals, Saturday Finals and Sunday Finals.
Thank you
