The Surrey Knights have set up a special session for female swimmers in our Gold and competitive groups who are in Grade 6 and up (born 2015 or earlier) along with their guardians to participate in a Girl Talk session. Coach Amber, along with Amy Vanderose, a SKSC parent and nurse will lead and discuss a variety of topics pertaining to female athletes including:
Menstruation and sport (specifically swimming)
Nutrition for the young female athlete and body image
We will first start off with a presentation and then have two Q & A sessions.. The presentation and the first Q & A will include both swimmers and guardians,, and the second Q & A session will be for the swimmers only to allow for questions they feel more comfortable asking around their peers only.
While this is not a health science class, due to the topics talking about menstruation and female anatomy, and the wide range of cultures we do have in our program, all athletes will require a consent form to participate, especially if attending on their own without a guardian present.
